Sunprotection

If you care about your skin and health, you will protect yourself from the sun. Proper clothing is the first line of defense because it is chemical free and provides all day protection. Broad brimmed hats, long sleeve shirts, long pants and special swim shirts protect most of the skin surface.

Physical sunblocks containing zinc and, sometimes titanium dioxide, are relatively inert and are better than chemical sunscreens for people with sensitive skin. They are also less irritating to the eyes.

Chemical sunscreens contain various UV screening compounds such as octocrylene (UVB), ethylhexyl methoxcinnamate (UVB), oxybenzone (UVA2/UVB), avobenzone (UVA1/UVA2), homosalate (UVB). In this group, select a sunscreen that effectively protects against both UVA and UVB.
